Do you really want to know what I'm thinking about?

2012 Statistics

End of the year and I am going to do the same thing I saw from Penn Jillette years ago.  I have been keeping track of all the movies, DVD’s, plays seen and books read throughout the year and here is where I ended up.

I saw 3 live performances: Harry Anderson, American Idiot and Jersey Nights.   I liked them in that order too. Harry was great!

I went to 3 movies in the theatre this year: Ted, Wreck-It Ralph and Hotel Transylvania.

Didn’t read as many books as I should have. Only made it through 5.  I have 3 other books that I have started that I haven’t finished, so I can’t put them up here even though I’m only a chapter or two away from finishing.

The big number, which is down from previous years, is 17 videos watched.

All in all, it was a good year. I’m glad to not have watched as many videos because it means I have been healthier and spending time with Cooper and Angie.

CRTC threatens to get rid of Oprah’s OWN network in Canada

Yippee! The Toronto Star is reporting that the CRTC is threatening to deny the license for Oprah’s OWN network in Canada because it is not meeting the educational mandate of it’s original license.  While I have seen some commenters noting that TLC and the History channel are both bigger offenders of not meeting educational requirements, with such lovely shows as Honey-Boo Boo (which I am very proud to say I have never seen) and “Ice Road Truckers” (again, never seen).

I’m just happy because Oprah is consistently one of the worst promoters of woo in the world.  Dr. Oz is a joke, promoting homeopathy and naturopathic (or more rightly naturopathetic) medicine that has a body count against it.  Her own show has featured Jenny McCarthy who is actively killing children by telling people not to get their kids immunized.  Dr. Phil has psychics on that are “proven” to work.  This is without even mentioning “The Secret” or any of the people that talk to the dead,  the ‘psychic surgery’ freak she promotes (John of God).

Hopefully we get rid of the network, just to mess with Oprah and her legions of followers.  Then the next step is to put some real shows on that help to educate the masses. We can only hope.
